「 南仏の海辺を思わせる本作では、天然真珠と小さな赤い貝殻をまとったモナの胸元に、美しい貝殻のペンダントが輝く。髪にはブローチのように白い甲虫がとまっている。貝殻や真珠貝を集めた作家の幼少期の記憶と、日本の子どもたちに親しまれる夏の昆虫採集の思い出が重なる作品である。」

About the artwork:

“Echoing the beaches of southern France, Mona is adorned with natural pearls and small red shells, culminating in a beautiful shell pendant. A magnificent white beetle has settled in her hair, like an ornamental brooch. The work recalls TOSCANE’s childhood memories of collecting shells and pearl oysters, while evoking a familiar Japanese childhood tradition: the summer pastime of catching insects.”
